Is there a way to test a laptop battery if it is working without actually putting it in a laptop. Or is there a way to charge a laptop battery without a laptop?

Thanks

I know recent Dell Laptop Batteries have "Push Strips" that show the charge held & that they also do external chargers.

What Laptop is it for ?

There are SOLO batteries on Ebay for between $10 and 30 (USD) (Normal retail between $130 -180 USD)
Can't recall an external charger for them or push strips.
You could try putting a meter on it though.

Yeah, I would like to get a meter, where do I get one?

Thanks!

Some manufacturers do external chargers for their batteries ..... best bet , either mail or call local PC store or check Gateway website.

I have a Gateway Solo 2500. Forget a meter to check the battery, the contacts are impossible to get to. I did pick up an external battery charger - $6.00 on E-bay (cute - 2x2x6"). You plug your regular plug (the one that plugs into the laptop), into the charger. I used it to try to charge the "$10 to $30" batteries I got from E-Bay!
