I have a Tiny A440 laptop computer that will not charge the battery.
When plugged into the mains adaptor the charging light flashes orange for about 2 minutes then goes out. No matter how long the charger is plugged in the battery doesn't charge.
In control panel the battery is showing 1% charge.
the battery type is LI-ION.
The laptop is fairly new and has hardley been used.
Is there any way of kick starting the battery???

I think you can get batteries fixed but it might just be worth getting a new battery. However you say that the laptop is new then It might be still under a warrenty.

You can check the bios for that laptop
and see if there is any type of
battery calibration.
That may offer some insight to the problem.

You say new as in you just bought it, however, do you know how old the battery actually is? (could have sat on the shelf for a while) How long does the notebook run on battery?
I am not familiar with Tiny notebooks, so how old is this model? Some manufacturers have a program that is manufacturer specific, for conditioning batteries. Check your manual or the website for special instructions for new batteries. With IBMs, you must do a complete charge/discharge cycle 3 times before using the battery.

My mom's laptop battery died 3 weeks past the one year warranty. I took it local and he said he would fix it for 200.00 and he would have it ready in 2 weeks. I went online and they had it new for 115.00 + 25.00 for second day shipping. I needed the laptop soon, my mom was going on a convention. Trust me it pays to go looking online. Her problem was she needed to have it on the charger all the time, the battery couldn't hold the charge once you disconnected it from the charger it would die no matter how long it had been hooked up.
Keep us posted, hope this helps.
