I have two PC's connected to a router, both manually configured IP's(they're unique, I got them both using DHCP and then turning DHCP off so port-forwarding will work)

However, when both of them are running, one or the other seems to grab all the bandwidth or something, making surfing web-pages impossible on the other.

Any ideas what I can do to stop this happening? Cheers

Bill.

You likely have some sort of asynchronous connection, where the download speed is high but your upload bandwidth is limited.

All you would need is one person engaging in any peer-to-peer application such as Kazaa, eMule, Piolet, eDonkey, etc to nearly completely saturate your limited upload bandwidth.

Oh and you know what else I could really do with understanding - what is a DMZ? DO I need to use it + why do I only have one on my router? THX!

Demilitarized Zone: a router feature to place one NAT IP address "outside" the router fully exposed on all ports.

As to why there is only one, the answer is if you need more than one you really need either two seperate connections to the internet or a plain switch.
