Have recently become aware that there is a consistent delay between the time my last startup (ZoneAlarm Pro) appears on the taskbar and IE or OE will populate. The delay runs from slightly over a minute to a minute and a half. For example, if I click on IE, the heading will appear but the scroll bar creeps very slowly until finally my homepage will fill in. Have shutdown all startups but no change in regard to the delay. Does anybody have an explanation for this slow activation of my IE homepage or OE program? Thanks in advance.

Hi

I'm getting the same thing and I don't have a clue.
I have found that if I start clicking on stuff it only makes it worse.

If I turn on the computer and go get a cup of coffee when I come back everything works ok.

I just chalked it up to having so much junk on my computer.

What version of IE are you running & have you installed all Windows security patches? Have you added any new apps recently that may be slowing things down?

If this is a new symptom, have you run any AV or AS apps and if so, what?

I don't run ZA Pro so I can't tell you much other than I run Norton System Works & it's Protection Center drastically slows down my start up as it runs a full scan of my system at reboot.

Sorry for not offering any solution but more data will help to resolve this issue.

Sir Black: Running IE 7, and all updates and patches installed. Also running AVG Free and on a weekly basis run Ad-Aware, SpyBot, Housecall, and Windows Disk Scan and Defragger (Not running Windows Defender!). Everything is working well after Bootup and wait of a minute to a minute and a half when my IE homepage will come up. A "wait" is not involved in the case of going directly to other applications/programs; however, a friend having a similar problem can do nothing until the wait period expires. Thanks for any help.
