Hello,

I bought a "Lacie d2 dvd writer" ... After installing the device and "roxio easy media creator 7.0" he disabled my normaal cd-rom drives.
I already replaced them with the orginal drives but NO LUCK
In the system manager he sais 'maybe a corrupted registry" I already ran a registry fix tool but NO LUCK .
I removed the software and the devices but NO LUCK.

He recognizes the cd-drive but he puts an exclamation mark.

Does anyone has a clue ??

Greetz,
Mike

You could try to uninstall the 'Silverlining' software, if there is any.....which OS are you running?

Is it internal, USB2 or Firewire?

Andy.

Hi there,

mostlikely the upper and lowerfilters within the Registry have gotten corrupt...

try the following: open the Registry Editor...

START, RUN, type in Regedit... search for the following KEY and delete it:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}"

Without the quotes ofcourse... then exit the RegEdit and go to the 'device mangler' and uninstall all CD-ROM's, DVD's, and CD-RW's... REBOOT... let windoze reinstall the drives...

... this happens sometimes when one installs a new burnsoft ...

if this does not work, I suggest that you install NERO 6, as it has a filter checker built in that checks the registry upon every run and cleans them correctly (called NEROCHECK.EXE)...

Good Luck,

Ben

If it works don't fix it! If it doesn't use a sledgehammer...

Hello,

I have one Question more.

Whats the use of the lower and the upperfilters.
What do they do ?

greetz

Hello,

Ben your solution worked ...
One thing ... when you delete the key he gives an "acces denied" . It is sufficient to reset the values to "0" and reboot.

Thx for the help.

Greetz,
Mike

Hi there, sorry for not answering... had a poweroutage last two days... (ouch forgot to pay the bill)...

to tell you the truth, about the upper and lower filters, I don't really know...

thanx for letting me know about setting the values to '0'... but to erase them you can righ click and set access to everyone and then delete (this will work aswell)...

Ben
