Hello,

I have just labeled two tapes.

Although Legato reports ok, in output dmesg command I looked this:

Feb 2 12:48:35 odilon Error for Command: read Error Level: Fatal
Feb 2 12:48:35 odilon scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] Requested Block: 0 Error Block: 0
Feb 2 12:48:35 odilon scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] Vendor: IBM Serial Number:
Feb 2 12:48:35 odilon scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] Sense Key: Media Error
Feb 2 12:48:35 odilon scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] ASC: 0x31 (medium format corrupted), ASCQ: 0x0, FRU: 0x30
Feb 2 12:48:35 odilon root: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] NetWorker media: (warning) /dev/rmt/1cbn reading: no tape label found

Is it ok?

Thanks!

If it is a blank tape there is no label on the tape. When networker tries to determine if there is something on the tape it wants to read the label. If there isn't any label (ie a new tape), you will see this error, which isn't an error really. Your tapes should have been labled alright after all.

Thanks for your help.

I was afraid the unit was failing again.

I'll take account this event for now on.
