Hi,

I've just assembled a new machine on the Abit KR7A-133. The setup went well and everything seemed okay when I first switched on, fans kicked in etc. However I have been unable to get any output to the screen, the machine just gives out continous long beeps, about 5 seconds apart. I've stripped the system down to the absolute basics and tried three different graphics cards (1 AGP, 2 PCI) but nothing seems to work. This is my first attempt at building a machine, I followed all of the guidelines and read a lot of tutorials before opening the boxes! I have read the manual thoroughly and can find nothing about this.

The system:
KR7A-133 (AMD Socket A ATX Based Mainboard PC1600 / PC2100 DDR DRAM ATA 133 SoftMenu™III Technology)
Athlon XP 1800
All housed in a new case with 300W power supply.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers all

The long beeps often indicate a RAM error, try reseating your RAM, if that does no good replace it. All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

Thanks for the response, turns out it was a RAM issue, it took several attempts to get it seated correctly.

regards
