Dear all,

I am having few network equipments which are configurable via Hyperterminal (that is login to those devices via Rs 232 port and connect it to hyper terminal and then u will get text comand to configure each devices;with different option). Is it possible to develop a GUI which will do the same and also generate some kind of report which will be mailed to the authorized user ...


I heared Perl do lot of funny thing and I don't have any idea of this perl,so pl let me know whether it is possible? If yes then with your support, I can do it...

You're probably looking for for "Expect" on search.cpan.org

Have a look at that, and CGI.pm, and you can build a web interface which should be able to communicate via the COM port.

If you want a straightforward GUI, have a look at Perl/Tk.

Sorry, we spend our time helping people and when they say 'more more more more chat with me help me personally' its a bit annoying.

I do hope you plan on compensating Paul for his time. We are unpaid volunteers you do understand...

We gave you info, if you do not want to do your own research I personally think you deeply misunderstand the point of this community.

If you have any specific questions on our answers please ask them but asking someone to hold your hand through your development process does not fit, at least with my, vision of Tek-Tips.
