Another day, another problem, well I just finished building an older pentium for my friend. I go to boot it up and the keyboards are detected and the lights on the board flash (and when I say keyboards it means I have tried multiple, trying to get it to work) When I try to hit Del to get into bios the computer doesn't respond. When I get into Dos and go to type a command nothing happens either. It's an older style board that takes either a old 5 pronged hook-up keyboard (you know those big round plugs) or a ps/2 keyboard, though they all produce the same results. So I was just wondering if I could get some help with my problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million!

I would say it is a hardware problem with the motherboard All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

Sounds like the keyboard controller is partially damaged. Doubtful if this will help, but try removing all add-in cards other than video, disconnect all drives, then try starting up. Try a different video card just in case the one you have is causing a conflict, and if available it might be worth temporarily plugging in a different PSU. Also, remove the battery and/or clear CMOS.

Other than that I'm afraid it's probably a replacement mobo...

I think you might need to look at defect in mother board as mulga said. If you can try those keyboards in other computers if they work 95% chance it is motherboard problem.

God Bless
