Norton AntiVirus 2002 has found infection in my kernel32.exe file and can't fix it, so it recommend that I remove this file. I think this is important system file so what should I do? If I delete this file, is it possible to get this from somewhere?
There is no legitimate Kernel32.exe file in windows and this file can be safely deleted.
The backdoor renames itself as such for a couple reasons. The first is, people are afraid to delete such a named file. Secondly, if the backdoor is running in the background, most people wouldn't think that kernel32.exe running in windows would be abnormal.
Hope this helps
