This may be a stupid question but I would like to be able to have folders on my desktop that only I can open, with a password I assume. I tried setting up some folders that only come up on my users desktop but found that my kids could simple copy the whole thing to a new user profile and have access to everything. Thanks for the help.

I've got a beta version of win 2k on a PC that seems pretty secure. It has proper security which can be applied to each folder.

I use a program called Magic Folders, it not only requires a password but makes the folders invisible on your computer.

It is available free from the PC Computing web site.

Well, Windows 98 don't have security like Windows NT or 2000. But what you can do is create a folder, you right-click on the folder and go to properties. Then put a check on the Hidden box. Then open My computer or any folder that you pick, go to Tools and then Folder Options. You can show all the hidden files or folder when you on your computer but when you leave, put do not show hidden folders or files before you leave. So your kids won't be able know where is the folder at.

And you don't think that kids can figure that out in 10 seconds or less? I know mine could.
Magic folders is the easiest solution ( unless you've got Win2k/XP.
Cheers,
Jim
