I have 3 Report Footer sections, Report Footer A, B, and C.
Very simply, I want to make sure they are printed on the same page and I can't get it to work in CR9 by selecting Keep Together in the Section Expert.
Can someone explain how to keep them together?

Also I have my field names in the Page Header and would like to know how to supress that section if there is no more records in the Detail Section below?

Thanks very much!

rosWald:

The "Keep Together" that you are using in the Section Expert is most likely have the OPPOSITE effect to what you want. "Keep Together" keeps the contents of each individual report footer section together. It does not keep a collection of sections together.

Also, you will want to make sure you do not have "New Page Before" or "New Page After" checked in the Section Expert for each of these report footer sections.

Well, actually it should keep the report sections a,b,and c together if you check "Keep Together" on the supracategory for Report Footer. On the other hand, there might be just too much space used in the three sections to fit on one page. You could try suppressing the page header and footer on that page by using a section suppression formula of:

pagenumber = totalpagecount

You could set Footer A to always start on a new page.

I agree with lbass.

If you open the Section Expert up, you will notice you have the following items listed for the Report Footer:

Report Footer
Report Footer a
Report Footer b
Report Footer c

If you highlight the parent "Report Footer", and set the "Keep Together" property, it will keep all child Report Footer sections together if it can.

Sorry, the question was about Report Footer's A,B, and C not the Superacategory. I'll try to provide more complete answers in future.

As Lbass and bdReed point out "keep together" in the supracategory is probably what you want. As bdReed points out if your combined sections take up more than one page that might be the problem.

I prefer to set "New Page After" to "on" at the last page or group footer and set "Suppress Blank Section" to "on" in these sections. I also make sure that no other sections have these "Page Before/After" options set.

If vertical space is a problem you could also try to suppress blank sections such as any group, header or footer that contains no field titles or data. You can do this from the Section Expert or individually with the pop-up when right-clicking on the section name area of the report.
