Hi - I hope some one can help with this
I have set up a webserver on my local intranet on my fire wall "Smoothwall" i have entered the IP and host name

192.168.1.2 vh1.sar-tec.net

when i call up the address from a browser it finds the IP goes to the server but gives me the 403 error" not authorised to view the page"

I have set up a new document root /home/vh1/ and a index.html file changed the user to vh1, and group to apache (spelling is definatly correct) i have given permisions of RWX for user, group, and other. On both the directory html and the file index.html

I am going batty trying to work out why this is happening all help apreciated

Have you created a directory container for your new DocumentRoot?
