Does anyone know what is Kavfind.exe ( located in c:\winnt\system32 ) used for? I delete it and os puts it back. It is not in the registry ( I did search and cannot find it ) Anyone has ideas willing to try thanks.

Sounds like spyware or virus, download spybot, update and scan for spywares. Also update your antivirus and scan.

Actually, I think it is spyware, sounds familiar.

Actually it is a virus. It is from a virus bboy.exe another name for it W32.NewApt.Worm. Symantec has a fix for it only in win 95 or 98 and not for Windows 2000. Any ideas? I went into registry HKL\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run and deleted the kernel bboy.exe line and deleted the kavfind.exe and bboy.exe. Still some how kavfind.exe finds a way back but the reg is clean. Thanks for any help

Install a virus scanner, update it, boot to safe mode, do a full system scan.

Mattjurado Allready have a virus scanner Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition. Found out today that it belongs to the good ole mumu virus!! It is a freaking variant of it. Norton thinks it is a hacktool.
