I'm having trouble getting Win2K prof to install on a new ECS K7VZA (Rev 3.0) with an AMD 1200C.
I was able to install Win98SE and Win200prof initially, but as soon as they where installed and running, when the GUI (desktop) started they just frooze. (both 98 and W2K). I initially thought this was a clocking issue, so I reduced the K7VZA to 100FSB (the processor was then recognised as a 900Mhz instead) ..... and all worked, both in Win98 and Win2K.
I discussed this with the retailer that I bought the Board/CPU from and they said that I needed to disable ACPI in the BIOS. I did this and Win98 was fine at 1200Mhz. However the Win2K installation now caused the machine to reboot half way through start up ... So I formatted the Win2K partition and tried to reinstall it.
The re-install now hangs at restart ....
anyone any ideas please ? ? ? ?
