With a Duron 950 Mhz and 256 Mb PC133, and a GeForce2Mx with 32Mb, I regret to say that I have no problems whatsoever... mine works really fine. The on board sound is OK too. Win Win98 first ed. I had problems with the sound drivers, but after upgrading to Windows 98 SE they disappeared.

Question: Can a Duron cope with DDR memory? I´ve heard that DDR is only usefull with an Athlon...

With kind regards, and thanks in advance for any opinions...

Have a K7S5A, Duron 1000, 256 mb DDR, Radeon VE, SoundBlaster Live Value and Win98 1st ed. Works great. Fast, stable, no problems.

Answer to your question, yes Duron's run faster with DDR memory - though just like with a Duron you only run PC133 ram at 100MHz, you only run DDR266 ram at 200MHz.

Plus, there's no reason to buy a new board and get PC133 ram to match it, DDR memory is not far off in price, and will undoubtably be more of an advantage to having in regards to any future upgrades.

Seeing dozens of these boards going out in system builds at a local PC shop, I can also say that this board prefers DDR to SDram, most problems infact are cured by replacing the SD to DDR.
Don't know why, but this is my experience.

Thank you for your opinions and advice. I was thinking of getting another 256Mb PC133 for the K7S5A but now I´ll go out and get 512 DDR and put the PC133 in my old K6 II...
