Appreciating your patience with another beginner.
I'm just starting into streaming. Our agency purchased a Sony digital 8 HandyCam with ImageMixer software. I've done a few movies and transferred sections to our network in mpg format. I want to stream these files over the lan to our staff. No internet, just the lan. I decided to go with QuickTime and installed Darwin on a Windows 2000 server. Now I'm trying to figure out the middle stuff. Where are some good tutorials for a guy at my beginning level who also has lots of questions? Like, is there a way to reduce the size of these huge files? How do I convert mpg's into something Darwin will understand? I tried playing around with its play lists but didn't make much progress. It won't list my mpg's.
I noticed that Apple has some software available, such as QTSS Publisher, but it is mostly tied to working on a Mac. I'm on a Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro domain and having difficulty finding helpful resources that can explain things at my beginning level. Should I give up on QT and use MS instead?
Thanks
