Just a quick bit of advice on 5.5 Sp4 please..

I am just about to apply the complete SP4 to my Exchange 5.5, to see if it can sort out a couple of continuing problems, and I just thought I would ask if there are any "funnies" I should be aware of before doing this.

Anyone had any bad experiences, or advice would be greatly received.. I'm all ears!!

My advice: Apply patch only after testing. Install a test server and have fun patching it too. You will learn a great deal and not be scared about screwing up the production server.

As for SP4, there are no problems whatsoever; however, as with Microsoft, everything is not final final. There are Post SP4 patches you will find out you need. For example, a bad header spam mail can crash your IMS services.

If you have no problems with SP3, SP4 will be great for you.

How come you're only now getting round to SP4? It's been out ages.

I always like to work on the premise:

if it aint broke, don't fix it..

And that has held true for the last few years. But recently, we have been having problems with messages coming through that have been converted to text files, because our exchange server has been unable to read the mime version...but thats another problem!
