Hello,

Strange question perhaps:

I am on Exchange 2003 with Oulook 2003. A co-worker and I both got an email from an external server. The email went into both our junk email boxes in Outlook 2003. I added the user to my "safe senders" list and the next time it came through properly.

The question is on exchange if I add an address to my safe senders list does it do that for everybody? I ask because it also started going into his inbox and bypassed his junk email filter after I made the change on my Outlook. I am thinking becuase all our machines are "connected" with exchange it is somehow a global change?

If this is a mail sent to a distribution list (e.g. the mail was sent to sales@xyz.com to which you and your colleague belong) or to multiple addresses in the sam edomain, then individuals cannot set the junk mail filter, it has to be done globally for the group.

So the answer is yes. Exchange is only able to accept a global setting. The problem is that the junk filter was only conceived as an indivdual's junk filter. The plan is for this to be changed.

Wow,you are correct. it was sent to a distribution list. Interesting how that works, and how confusing the junk email filter can be. I for one get mostly good mail in the Outlook junk email folder. Kinda lame :/

Thanks for the reply.
