I downloaded a graphics editor (can't remember which!), and the icons for jpgs and bmps were changed to Windows "unknown" icons. Can anyone help me with this?

Blessings!

you can open with, your choice of

MS Paint
Internet Explorer
Kodak Imaging.

when the open with dialog box comes up select one of the above and have the "always use" box checkmarked.

I lay claim to nothing and everything. My words may be wisdom or disaster. In the end you make a choice. Noone is perfect.

I know how to do that. What I want to have is the ability to identify jpgs and bmps by their unique icons. At present, I can't tell one from the other.

Thanks, anyway.

goto folder options file types..find the extension of your choice then edit..you can choose what to open it with as well as change the icon

Thanks to Buckeye Computers for putting me on the right track! What I wound up doing was actually deleting the file type that had the Windows Unknown icons and creating the types I needed (jpg & bmp). And that works great!

Thanks muchly!
