OK- I make a file in psd. I save it in .jpg. Than I upload it into ftp server, but it shows up as an X. I try to open it from anything, except for photoshop, and it says "Invalid Format". Why is this not working?

If you use PS7 be sure you use the <Save for web> rather than the save as jpeg, there is an XML bug in the header of those files made by <Save as jpeg>

some of the files save, it is just the more recent ones that have not been saving. could it be a size issue?

Also check to verify that the JPG is in RGB mode, not CMYK.

no one knows?

Compare the file size number of bytes on your local and server version. It seems there might have been some dropped due to a bad network connection.

hrm.. i did some experimenting, and when i took everything from the old non working .psd, and put it in the same size new .psd, the new one worked, but the old one still did not... i cannot figure out why..
