I have a NT4 server that I do not have Domain Administrator privlidges to join the domain for my Windows 2000 Professional. (Gives me an error that I do not have enough access to join the domain). I just upgraded my machine from Windows 98SE to 2000. I was informed that Windows 95/98 only appends itself to the domain, not actually joins it.

I was wondering, if I took a NT4 server with the same Domain Name and gave myself Administrative Privlidges, join the domain; could I go back to the other domain and still be joined (I know I won't have admin privlidges when I switch back to the old domain, but my goal is for the machine to join the Domain).

No,
Each account in domain has it's own UID, that is unique for a given domain. You can not move a PC between domains in such a manner.
You must have a rights to join the domain or the PC account must be already created for you.
