i can join a surname and a forename together in a querie but how do i put a space between the names.

Use: Surname & " " & ForeName

The & symbol is called the concatenation operator; in this case, it is concatenating the two fields and a space string (ie. the space is between the quotes).

I use the following inside the querie to join the names together but cannot get it to leave a space
Full:[Forename]+[Surname]

Try this:

Full:[Forename] + " " + [Surname]

Copy it exactly as you see it. Steve Lewy
