Need some good read on how to join a Netware 5 Server to a tree. I have several servers as independent trees, I would like to join these to an existing tree and put them in a context of the new tree.
Thanks

so you mean you want to merge the tree

or are you doing it fresh

Not sure about merging.Or if I'm making myself clear.
Basiclly I have several offices, each containing a server for login, printing, files etc. These are independent trees.
I would like to keep the servers performing the same function, but not reinstalling Netware. And when users login using the Novell client, they would have a new but existing tree, and these servers will be in the contex. The old trees will be eliminated, making for 1 tree and several context.

Example
Tree: xxx
Context: xx.xxx
Server: server ip or name

Thanks

yep

look at dsmerge
plan lots and you'll need zen to modify clients on logout

Yeah a tree merge will do the trick, but don't try to do it in one day. Merge two sites together, then give it a week for the dust to settle and make sure NDS is healthy and working how you want it.

Then just keep merging one tree at a time until they are all in the same tree.

After you've got your trees combined, you'll want to read up on partition and replica strategies, depending on how your wan links are configured.
