Join with fields of different datatypes

I am new to reports, so if this is any easy question I apologize.

I have been asked to write a report where I need to create a join between two fields of different data-types. Any ideas??

What exactly are you talking about when you say two data types. Do you know how to create a Business View or have you done that before? Are you on One World?

I am in One World and I have had limited experience creating Business Views.

What I mean by two different data types is that one is text and the other is numeric.
