Hello,

I'm not quite sure what has happened but when i returned from a two day holiday, i returned to find that the backups on one of our servers have stopped running. Half way through the backuo they stop, then the job can not be cancelled. It just hangs.

If i try to look at the devices on that server, Arcserve will crash.

Anybody got any ideas? I'm using Arcserve version 6.1 on a Windows NT 4 Server. There are two jobs on the server and both jobs do the same thing.

As a first step, restart the server.
If it still has a problem, try a small test job.
Check for loaded drivers as per
Which Driver Should I Use? faq478-3987
Put Job and Tape Engines in debug and reproduce the problem.

The server has been rebooted but the fault has come back.

I have checked the event viewer on the server and I have found an error stating that "There may be a synchronization problem between the Tape Engine and the Database Engine.

Stop the ARCserve services, close the manager and then delete the files in the database directory that begin with the letter "r". Upon restart they will be recreated.

If that does not do it then it is back to the logs but with all three engines in debug.
