jmf in linux

Hi,
I want to make a player which can play MPEG media in linux platform.
I downloaded jmf-2.1.1-beta2-linux-i386.tar,jmf-2.1.1-fcs-linux-i386.tar and jmf-for-java2-2.1.1-fcs-linux-i386.tar, and installed them in my linux platform, of course the env has set.
But what made me puzzle was when i used test codes to test jmf none of them could play MPEG files.
My jdk is jdk1.4.1.
Who has experience in useing jmf in linux platform? Could you do me a favor?
