In another thread JLOCKLEY said that Microsoft will provide full support for a user who has problems with an automatic update. What is the magic pathway by which one reaches Microsoft to obtain such support?

Thanks.

To add to lander215,

If you have an issue from a service pack or hotfix, the Microsoft support incident is free. There is online tech support, email and telephone support: thread779-923312

The link in that thread isn't working...

It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

Nope...it's being truncated and not displaying the link properly for me (IE6 fully patched, W2K SP4 fully patched)

ROFLMAO

By the way, the folks will rediret you depending on the hotfix or Service Pack issue involved. It is still free.

Hi

The link you (bcastner) supplied,
took me to a Win XP support site. Then selecting Win2000 Pro from a drop-down list took me to the following:

Is this the correct page? I raise the question only because this seems to be primarily a fee-based support page. The last time I had any dealings with Microsoft support, LONG ago, it worked differently, so please be patient with my possibly naive questions. And thanks.

If the issue is SP4 for example, or a hotfix related problem, they waive the fees.

The magic words are: "I just upgraded through Windows Update to (Service Pack xxx -or- recommended Hofix KBxxxxxx an now my computer will not .......).

No fee.
