Javascript Phone Dialer....?

Ok, not sure if i'm in the right forum or not, but this is what I need...

I have software in PHP with a MySQL back-end that telemarketers are using to keep track of people to call. What I need is for the computer to actually dial the numbers through the modem. I know obviously PHP since its a server-side software can't do the job, but any suggestions how I could get the task accomplished? Javascript? Is anyting close to this possible? Thanks!

It might be possible to do this using javascript and ActiveX modules but by the time you got it to work it would be soooo cumbersome, and usable with IE browsers only. There are 100's of modem dialer programs out there and most newer Windows systems already have a dialer built in. I don't know if any of them could access a mysql database so you may have to take another approach to getting the numbers you want to dial.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
