This is a totally free text editor and has all the features needed for a coder.
Both packages offer syntax hilighting. I personally like the ability to open and save files to an FTP location using MacOSX from within TextWrangler directly. Both packages do what they say on the packet... they don't come with a spreadsheet, drawing package or 3D games collection... they are editors used for editing text files that can be used for web pages.
I use EditPlus. It has the FTP open and save ability, syntax highlighting, and a whole raft of other features. Not free, but the trial version is not crippled at all and it's reasonable.

I will put in the 3rd good word for TextPad, it's highly customizable.
Depending on different file types, it will load a profile for that document highlighting keywords in the colors that you assign. I just wish you could set up the keywords to be bold or italicized......
