Anyone knows if it is possible run an as400 program from java and display the contents in the system.out.print?

Java and as400

At my last job, I initiated jobs on an AS400 and a mainframe via ftp. I would contact the box using the NetComponents ftp package, give it the command to run the job, then pick up the resulting file in the same ftp session and examine the results.
Unfortunately, I don't recall the syntax for running a remote job via ftp, but I'm sure a google search would find it for you.
