This problem arose after taking advice from an earlier thread....
I've created admin and user accounts.
The Workgroup Administrator file is creating diffuculties in that it asks to overwrite the existing file if someone tries to join it...
Now, with Shared Access ticked the databse can only be accessed by one person at a time?????

Try to make sure that you dont open your database as exclusive, from the Open dialog box
Mohamed Aly
samara_79@hotmail.com

I didn't see the previous thread, so my question may have already been addressed, but...

If your data mdb file resides on server and your users are linking to it through a common MDB file, the problem could be caused by their network folder access permissions (a function of the network administrator, not of Access.) On a shared drive, the user needs the permission to read, write, erase, in fact, he/she needs everything except administrator rights to the folder where the MDB(s) resides. If these rights are withheld, the first user gets in just fine, but subsequent users are denied access.

Well that is the way the folder on the server has been set-up, with write access for me and the Boss! Everyone else has read-access and nothing else. Does this mean, what you're suggesting is that the permissions for everyone else will have to be changed so as to allow more than one user access the d/b ata time???
