ITG Card Slow to Process Calls

Good Day All,

I have an ITG Card in an Option 11C PBX. It was originally running on an 8 VOIP channel config, we just recently upgraded the service and we have maximized the ports to the cards maximum of 24 VOIP channels. The problem is since upgrading to the 24 channels, when we make calls over the VOIP network, the call takes a long time before it is connected. I wait a good 6-8 secs for the call to start ringing on the other end.

I have telneted into the ITG card and pinged all other locations and communication is not the problem, I have good ping replies and all is well. So can anyone tell me why the calls are taking so long to be processed?

What's your bandwidth like. It sounds like the calls may be re-routing over another service. You may want to check and confirm that the call that is taking so long to iniate is actually going down the ITG? Have the QOS settings been changed after upgrade?

My bandwidth is fine. And I traced the call and it is going over the ITG route. The QOS setting is off as it was before the upgrade. Everything is the same only the number of channels were increased. My ping replies from the ITG card interface are good. What else could it be?

does your calls go over the new channels you setup. Turn on Dchannel messaging and see if maybe it is stepping through channels

Did you only increase the number of channels at one end?
It may be that the other end sitll has 8 channels.

Remeber its chanels into many sites not channels to each site

John

Yes we only increased the channels at one site. The other ITG site only has 8. But the calls going to my BCM's behave in the same way. from its going via the ITG route there is a long delay before its terminated. My network consists of 2 Option 11C w/h ITG, and 8 BCM's w/h H323 Trunks. Any advice?

can you look at each meridian at the same time.

If you can put d- channel messaging on both sites and make a call. Does the setup message appear in the terminateing switch instantly or is there a delay?

If there is the network could be at fault.

What software are the m1's and what is in the itg cards.

Do the bcm's have any problem call any site.

Still trying to help

John

I am going to try the D-Channel messaging today. Will keep you posted.
