We have a pc with the Italian version of Vista on it, it uses c:\programmi and not c:\program files.

We need to create a folder called c:\program files so we can install some software but Vista say it already exists. We can't see it.

Is there a link between programmi and program files? and how would we get round this.

Thanks

I don't know much about Italian versions but what folder opens (if any) if you were to use the System Variable %ProgramFiles% in the Start Run box?

Linney that would open the directory called "c:/Programmi"...

at least it does it on my GERMAN version...

BadBigBen,

Can you create a "Program Files" English spelling in the German Vista? I can create a C:/Programmi in my common old garden English version.

Perhaps all that "fragglemoo" needs to do is show hidden files in Folder Options?

Linney,

No I can not, it prompts me to merge the folder with the "c:/Programme" folder...

it thus proves that the "c:/Programmi" folder is the same as the "c:/Program Files" folder...

and if I negate the prompt, it does not create the folder under that name, but calls it "Neuer Ordner" (New Folder)...
