Our 120 day trial for teminal services ended a couple of days ago, so I just installed a per user 5 pack. I activated the server and changed the licensing configuration from device to user, but the clients (Win XP Pro) are still recieving the message that a connection cannot be made because they don't have valid CALs. What else do I need in order to have the CALs issued to the users?

Thanks,

Sam

HI.

I think that the best way for dealing with these problems is contacting Microsoft.

BTW - Ask them if you are entitled for free TS licenses for your WINXP machines. The new licensing for WIN2003 TS is confusing but depending on the purchase date of your WINXP licenses you might get some additional TS licenses.

Thanks for your input. I ended up just restarting the server and the clients were able to access it afterwards; nowhere have I read that I needed to restart the server, and I assume it was just coincidental. Even stranger is that in the TS licensing console it shows that none of the licenses have been issued, even when users are actively using the server. It seems to work, so I won't ask too many questions.

I looked into the WinXP lisencing issue a while ago, and all of our remote clients were purchased after the cutoff date (Feb. 1, 2003, I think).

Thanks,

Sam

Terminal server in user mode is not managed, from my understanding you should not see usage. Also the cutoff date was the latter part of April for converting.
