I recently re-formatted a HP Compaq laptop. I went to the HP website and downloaded drivers from their support page. After doing so, I opened Internet Explorer and it connects to the internet for about 15 seconds and then I get a "Send Report" box and then it kills Internet Explorer. I have tried using other drivers with no luck. Is this a driver problem or is it a Internet Explorer problem? Is there a way to check if a driver is causing a conflict. I should mention I am trying to connect wirelessly and I have entered the correct wep code.

What version of Windows is this happening on. I'm assuming XP, but since you don't mention it I can't be sure.

Just because Internet Explorer closes, doesn't mean the Wireless connection is gone.

Does it issue any error, prior to the report?

Can you check in Event viewer, see if there are any relevant entries in there.

When Explorer closes do you still see the wireless connection Icon in the taskbar?

Is it still connected?

If so then it is not a driver issue at all, but an IE error.

Try running IE in safe mode. Start->Run iexplore -extoff

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.
