My ambition is now to work out why....

When connecting a router to ISDN with a working config.

running no shutdown on each interface.
enabling ip routing.

When using sh ISDN ST, sh ISDN act..the ISDN line is active and has aquired a TEI why does it then even when using:
ISDN call int bri0 (number)

Why does it still not bring the line up, it appears to be random in the time it takes to allow connectivity?

I am user dialer groups and chap/pap.

help?

It does eventually work but seems to be a random time to bring the line up.

cheers,
steven

Steven,

Try using debug ISDN q931, you should be able to see if:

i) router is dialing
ii) if remote end is either busy, not answering, or something else is preventing calls being answered straight away.

If the router is not dialing straight away, have a look at debug dialer, see what that tells you.

Hi,

I've tried that debug already, I forgot to add...

I get the reponse user busy. but its an ISDN PRI 30 channel and not all channels are used up?

cheers,
steven

Embarrasing look.

Mental note to self* On a 30 channel ISDN line if 30 channels are busy, u'll receive a user busy status using q921 debugging.

I'll get my coat then....
