ISDN Data over VoIP

Hi,

We host a dial in service for our customers in the UK but now have customers in Austrila. At present they are dialing the international number back to the UK. As this is not good we are thinking of installing an IPO in our Austrila office and linking them over our VPN link back to the UK. Can you tell me if this is a viable option or would SIP be a better soloution for this. Unfortantly I am stuck on 2.1 of IPO in the UK at present but if I have a drive to upgrade the system it should be possible.

Depending on your SIP provider, they should be able to provide you with Austrailian numbers straight to your SIP switch.

You could eiter upgrade your IPO to 4.0+ or get a SIP gateway. Have a look at Vegastream gateways. SIP to the G/W then Alog/ISDN to the Phone System.

Why are you stuck on 2.1, what do you have???

I'm stuck on 2.1 as this was an upgrade from an Index so I have DT handsets. The company have been very reluctent to change all 80 hand sets and DT modules to allow us to take up the new software.

SIP Gateway then could be the way forward. We have a couple of Vegastreams running and are very good for non SIP enabled kit.

You will need the gateway, PRI, BRI or Alog lines spare on your kit and an engineer to fit.

Oh, and a SIP service with some Australian numbers!!!!!!

Someone would have to do the numbers to see if it worth while.

Avaya do upgrade rebates from DT>DS if you wanted to check those out.
