What really ISA server do? IT's a something like proxy server.

I am not sure Proxy Server would run on Windows 2003 (if that is what you are asking?). But ISA and Proxy are different beasts.

ISA is a Stateful Firewall and WEB Cacheing Server so allows traffic other than HTTP/HTTPS and FTP to flow through it (with obviously a bit more such as AD Integration, support for AD Users etc). Whereas Proxy Server is just a WEB Cacheing Server with Support for NT User accounts etc.

planning to migrage from exchange 5.5 to exchange 2003
currentyly we use proxy.

guide me with the most secure design on what to use for user internet connection and security. currently we use proxy server for connection.

MS Proxy server has been discontinued and replaced with ISA:

Is it ok if I put proxy server on replica of a domain controller ( it's not lot of overhead, right?) any good CBT for ISA server?

Depends on how many users will be going through the proxy... a big difference if you have a few hundred compared to 10's of thousands...

there is client software it is availiable o/c of loading from the firewall......shared if u select it as pne of the options to load
