Isa server is blocking external pop3 account, when you test the account it block the smtp.

have added protocol acceso to SMTP pop3 and DNS, but still bloking.

any suggestions?

you publish a smtp server and pop3 server ?

coco10 (if you speak spanish im too)

i have internal exchange server but i dont want to publish it to the internet, the exchange server wont be available for internet users.
The problem regards on client outlook when someone configures
external pop3 accountm, blocks the smtp outgoing server.

the smpt outgoing server its the internal exchange?
what allow rules you configure.

coco10

Are you sure ISA is blocking it? Is not your Exchange server?

outgoing smtp server is not my internal exchange.
just forget for a moment the exchange server.
Just imagine there is not exchange.

if i configure my outlook to work with personal folders and i configure an external pop3 account, the isa server will block the outgoing smtp server.

Coco10 i thought disableling the outlook in the client firewall was gonna resolve the issue but it didnt.

hi, post your allows rules. i think you need to configure pop3 acces to anonymus user from internal network. and another question yours user are all in the internal network?

coco10

i have allowed all protocols all access, all users al internal network.

Is there some where i need to specified anonymous user to pop3?

What I think they are trying to say, is that they have configured Outlook to use an external email account and the SMTP connection to the external server is not working.

Have you set up a protocol rule to allow your client SMTP access through your firewall?

If you’re trying to use your internal exchange SMTP server to relay messages, this may be set only to relay messages to your local domain.

thats correct Tony thats the problem. the client smtp access thrugh the firewall is the problem

i have configured the protocol but still the problem

try, disabled the smtp filter

i presume you set up an allow rule from internal to external, all users ,protocol smtp.

To add to coco10's post, make sure you have also added an IP packet filter to allow outgoing SMTP traffic.

check your firewall log. If you follow those suggestions above you should be able to send.

Which smtp server are you using? Is it your own isp (the one which ISA server connected to) or smtp server from another ISP?

How about if you post your config (outlook), it's difficult for us to help since we have to guess what are you trying to do.

i have isa 2000 version
i have enable ip packed filter for outgoing on port 25

not resolved the problem
