Hi

We have a setup I have never come up against before. We have a SonicWALL TZ 170 connecting to our external Internet connection and to our internal LAN. The SonicWALL handles all our firewall, vpn, content filtering but we also have ISA Server 2000 running connecting to our LAN with a single NIC acting as a Web Cache. The current ISA server is setup on an old low spec desktop PC and we have slow internet web browsing.

I have a server that I wish to use to replace my ISA server but I wish to deploy this ISA server in a more efective manner. One Idea that I have is to have the ISA server between the SonicWALL and my LAN with 2 NIC's an external NIC connecting to the SonicWALL and internal NIC connecting to the LAN. So I would have all trafic comming throught the hardware and software firewalls.

I am having a problem in setting up this with ISA Server. As the SonicWALL is on my internal network this would mean that both the NIC's would have an internal IP address is this right?

Any ideas on how this could be done?

Much Thanks
Paul Tiernan

Paul,

You would need to set up the internal nic on the sonicwall and the external on the ISA in a seperate subnet and then setup routing and firewall rules. An example would be:

Public Internet==Public-IP>Sonicwall<10.0.0.1>====<10.0.0.2>ISA<172.19.0.253>===IP Network (172.19.0.0 subnet)
