Use your head. Do you think that Microsoft likes you enough to send you a care package?
Personally, I'd kill it straight away. You can go to the update site and see for yourself what you need and appply it. Smells like very bad news to me...if nothing else, annoying spam.

The reason I worded my post as I did, is because there are several email hoaxes out that state...
from M$ delete this file or that etc.
I get my Security bulletins and technet stuff, but no blanket mass mails from M$ whatsoever....
Do you concur?
I would like to bring clarity to this thread.

I did not find this at all clear, sorry. Some of the emails are newsletters, some are not. Microsoft sends emails all the time. I have never received an attachment from them.
