Hey I have 2 2500 routers w/2 Ethernets & 2 Serials and 1 2600 w/no serial WIC and 2 Fast Ethernets. I am trying to setup the standard lab which is

router---serial---router---serial---router

I only have 1 dte/dce cable which will connect the 2500's together but I need a way to connect the 2600 to this setup. Here is the dumb question...I know I can connect aux to aux because I've done it before. However, can I route and do all the other labs like OSPF, RIP, EIGRP etc...? Although the interfaces will say Async can I route over them?

I am trying to work with what I have to keep the cost down.

Thanks in advance.

"async dynamic routing" this allows dynamic routing to take place on the interface but I'm not sure which of the protocols are supported

Don't be content with being average. Average is as close to the bottom as it is to the top

Would you like to trade the 2600 for a 2504. I got 2 2504 and want to get rid of one.

Well I dont necessarily want to trade but I appreciate the offer. Do you want to get one of the 2500's off your hands. If so, maybe we can work something out.

Is there a way to connect the 2500 and 2600 together simulating a WAN link?

Dont think so, I believe back-to-back are only feasible with 2 serial, 2 AUX or 2 build-in CSU-DSU. Serials seems to be ideal because it handles encapsulation faster.

I want to get rid of one of the 2504 because I need a router with a ethernet port such as 2501/2503. 2504 has 2 serial, 1 token, 1 bri.
