Is there enough room on shelves with 4 alpha splits 1

I'm doing a project where i have to count the amount of files on each shelf and then count the number of files in each aplha split i.e. A-f, G-L, M-S, T-Z on each shelf. I managed to do the first bit but don't know how to go about the second bit. Any ideas?????

You can use In, for example:

[tt]SELECT Count(T.PK) AS CountOfPK
FROM T
WHERE Left(FieldName,1) In ("a","b","c","d","e","f")[/tt]

Thanks for the reply, it helped a lot.

I have used the code above and it does count through the alpha split but it doesn;t tell me how many files are in each alpha split on EACH SHELF. The shelves are named like "Shelf 001" for example and there are quite a lot of them. The qry does not like the "WHERE" clause.

Any ideas on how i would go about this????
