I am hooked up to the internet through verizon dsl and tech help told me that they shut off port 80 so that servers can't be run through their network. Is there anyway I can change ports to run my web site on the internet?

I am not hooked up to a router. Can I still change the port number?

if you/they are runing windows 2000 server, if you go to the site prperties there is a tab, where you can change the port of the web site. A+, MCP, CCNA

Yes, the web server service has nothing to do with a router. CJ

What I meant was that I changed the port number to 8080, now how do check it out in the web browser from another computer? When I type in my ip address in the browser nothing comes up.

If you want a better web address where you don't have to type in the IP address followed by the port your running your web server on then look into ====================================
