Is there anything like the Quark plug in Grid Master?

I either need to know how to divide a box equally. Yes, I can do the math but in QX there was a plug-in that would divide the original box into however many, across and down that you wanted. I know I can accomplish the spacing via the align...but how to split them in the first place.

Wasn't that plug-in simply a variation of step and repeat? Do they even sell that anymore? Can you do step and repeat for your situation? Would InDesign's table function work as well? Am I asking too many questions?...

You may find that the table feature in InDesign is well-suited here. After drawing a table, you can evenly distribute rows and columns. Each cell can be treated as a frame for content. If you don't like the table, you can easily add or remove columns and rows.

I suppose you could call it a version of step and repeat, with the exception of being able to define the gutters. You would draw a box (say the size of your page) and tell it you wanted to do 4 blocks across, 5 down with 1/8th of an inch inbetween. It then divided the block into equal divisions. Poof! It was done. I tried the tables but what I need to do is image frames, not text. I work on circulars and we divide the page into sections, at the moment we use QuarkXpress and Grid Master. We are switching to InDesign and I'm looking to do these blocks in a similar or easier fashion then having to do the math and the align window.

P.S.
When you are trying to help someone there is NO such thing as too many questions! I appreciate the assistance.

what I need to do is image frames, not text - - you can place images in these cells as well (not just text). But this is probably still not the ideal solution for you.

Another option is to create a set of master pages with the various layouts/grids that you use. You can have a master page for each one of your possible layouts.

There may still be a plugin out there...
