We have 8 cisco 3550 smi switches. We have created a hostname for each of these switches. These switches have a fiber uplink to our 6500. We only use the default config on these 3550s. We just added the hostname, ip name-server, ip default-gateway and ip address on vlan1. Do we have to manully add them on our DNS server to get their hostname to come up or is there another way? We just want to be able to telnet to them by name.

Thank you,

You have to manually add them, they do not support dynamic DNS (link Windows 2000/XP etc). You should add the reverse lookup as well.
