Is there a way to install a hosts file at login? We use Novell 5.

you could copy it through script or nal

but being realistic - hosts are a nightmare - it's like everyone driving a morris minor

good in their day but past it - slap the dns server on and let your dhcp dish it out - nice quick easy and it means modify in one place and thats it - no nasty files on pc's that cause probs and need to be updated etc

the dns server can be setup in minutes - it's that easy

We want to use it for site blocking, we already hand out DHCP. We have been having problems with people installing MSN Messenger among other things.

The HOSTS file is nothing more than a text file, you can move and copy it at will.

Not exactly LawnBoy, they will not be able to copy the HOSTS file to the SYSTEM32 dir (NT/2000/XP) unless they have admin rights to their machine. If they have this right on their local machines then you can copy the file from a login script easily
