CM2.2 using tn2501 and MM760 val boards.

Users are complaining about the volume of some announcements. These were downloaded from professional recordings. Is there any kind of volume control, global or individual, for announcements?

Not that I know of. Our announcements are professional recorded, and I use SoundForge software to make sure that they are all at a consistent volume level before I put them on my VAL board.

You can use the Microsoft Sound Recorder (Start\Programs\Accessories\Entertainment\Sound Recorder) to adjust the volume:

Backup the VAL board to your PC.
Identify the announcement to have the volume changed.
Open the announcement with Sound Recorder.
Click on File then Properties. Note the the settings.
Change the format to PCM, 8KHz, 8-bit, Mono.
Click on Effects and Decrease Volume until you get the desired volume.
Click on File then Properties then Convert Now. Reset the properties to what they were in step 2 and save the file.
Delete the original file from the VAL board.
Upload the new file from your PC and test.
