Has anyone seen a buttsett or other gadget that allows you to test a digital line? Currently we snag a digital set and punch it down on the block to test. I wish there was a simple way to test, just like it is for analog lines.
Yes, there is a piece of equipment called an LA 85 Port Tester. Its a small handheld tester. There is a comcode for it, but I don't know if the comcode is still good. You could call Avaya and see.
Comcode 105138424
The do have a buttset that works with digital. An easier way is to use your analog butt set and listen for the clicking noise that a digit line puts off.
I just checked with Harris and they do not have anything for PBX digital lines. I wonder if anyone has fabricated something that just indicates a digital line is assigned to that pair, you know, a little indicator sort of like testing voltage. A friend told me to plug my test set in--and if nothing heard--then use the tone generator switched on continuity --- if there is a complete digital connection--it will light up the led.
I'll try to find a newer comcode for the LA 85 Digital port tester. It is actually stated as part of troubleshooting in the Definity Wireless System. Helps with troubleshooting CAUs and WFBs.
